The Good, the Bad, the Blessings!

I get to update finally! Sorry to all of my faithful followers for not giving up on me. Well, where do I begin? The good, the bad, or the blessings? I always choose bad news first so lets start with that. Well at work, I have been assigned to work every Sunday (aweful!). At the beginning of February I got my appendix out in emergency surgery (not fun not to mention the $12,000+ in medical bills since we have no insurance!!!). A few weeks later the engine in our Montero caught on fire coming down Spanish Fork Canyon ($3,000! Again, not covered by insurance). Those were the worst things.

The good..... we are all healthy, well fed, warm at night, and have the gospel. Also, we are taking a vacation to Disneyland with my whole family in April. Also, we got to go to Chris's family cabin in Schofield for a couple days and ride around on the snowmobiles and fourwheelers and just relax! That was great!

The blessings...... where do I begin?!?!?! There are a couple of BIG ones that we are so grateful for. I know that all our blessings come from a loving Heavenly Father. First, the $9,100 bill that we got for my "less than 24 hour" stay in the emergency room was reduced to $100! Yeah, that is not a typo, ONE HUNDERED DOLLARS! What a wonderful surprise. Haley and I had to read the letter about 5 different times, just to be sure. The a couple days later, the $3,000 that it was going to take to fix our car turned into aout $1,000! Still, no small chunk of change but I'll take a $2,000 discount anytime.

Those are the biggies, and I dont want this to be too long. I hate super long posts! Hope to hear from you all!

This one is available on my video page as well. I thought they both deserved a post on the main page. What an incredible story! I hope to someday be like Dick Hoyt.

Loving Body For Life!

I am absolutely loving Body For Life. I think that it is for a couple of reasons. First is for the simplicity of the program. The workouts are fast, effective, and diverse to keep me interested. Also, the recipies are quick and easy to make and they really do taste good. The second reason is for the challenge and the deadline. Having registered for the 12 week Body For Life challenge as well as having registered for the Salem triathlon on May 30, I have something that I am working towards rather than just "getting in shape". My personal motivation is different with a goal. For those of you who are taking me up on my challenge you can add some motivation for yourself by setting a goal with a deadline such as a race, a competition, a hike, wear a bikini on a cruise (that would really motivate some!), etc. Set a goal with a deadline and for a little more motivation make it something that costs money to register for.

Update on Triathlon

I want to let you all know that am entering a different triathlon. This one is called the Salem Spring Triathlon. It will be on Saturday, May 30, 2009. The distance will be an 800 meter swim, 14 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. I would love for you all to join me. The links for registration and race information are below and I have also included a link for a training program specific to triathlons. The whole beginnertriathlete.com website is great and has a lot of useful information. There is also a link for several other races for this year if you want a little more preparation time or you can't make that date. The registration for this race is only $50 for the first 200 entries and then the price will go up. Hurry and get registered. That will be a good way to make the commitment. There are 135 days from today until race day. Get ready!! See you at the races!

New Year's Resolutions

My New Years Resolution's for this year, 2009, is to train for and complete a sprint triathlon. There are a couple parts to my plan and goals. First, I will be competing in the event in St. George, Utah on May 9, 2009. The three legs are a .75k swim, 20k bike, and 5k run. It will be held at the Sand Hollow resort. The second part of my resolution is to enter the "Body For Life Challenge". I have taken a before picture and I will be taking pictures each week until the competition is over and at the end I will post them to be able to see my transformation.

I am following the "Eating For Life" meal plan, which I do not look at as a diet. The meals we have already tried are great! Very tasty and healthy! This book is awesome and has so many meals of all types that are very healthy, have everyday ingredients, and TASTE GREAT, which we all know is essential! I am very excited and appreciate all teh support and encouragement I have received so far. My challenge to you is to join me! If you are not interested in one part or the other, don't do it, just do one part if you want. The challenge is to do something to get in better shape. The one required part is that you take before and after pictures.

If you want to know the exact plan that I will be following click the links and check them out.
